Understanding Islam and Muslims

Islamic Center of NashvilleDo you want to know?
Is Islam a kind, gentle religion or is it the religion of terrorists?  Is Allah a different god or just another name for God?  Are Muslins open to the truth?  Understanding Islam and Muslims will help you discover the answers to these and many other questions!

Do you want to reach out?
There are over 5 million Muslims in the US.  15-25,000 of them call Nashville home.  You don’t have to travel to a foreign country to minister to Muslims.  This practical course will help prepare you to reach out to the Muslims within your sphere of influence.

Restaurant in NashvilleWhat is the Understanding Islam and Muslims Course?
Understanding Islam and Muslims is a nine-lesson course which combines lectures by experts in ministry to Muslims, small group discussion, and a field trip for an integrated multi-disciplinary learning environment. The rich combination of methods of instruction makes this an engaging, even life-changing course. The course textbook itself has more than 70 authors providing a broad range of perspectives on Islam.

Why Should this Course Matter to You?
Islam is considered by some to be the greatest challenge to Christianity today. There are more than six million Muslims in the U.S. alone, making Islam the second most popular religion in the United States. Sadly, Christians rarely reach out to Muslims. Some feel Muslims are too difficult to reach with the gospel. Others simply don't know how to share with their Muslim neighbors. Understanding Islam and Muslims can help break down these barriers. Through friendships with Muslims, we learn more about the world today. Muslims are hospitable and have a rich, diverse culture and history. In addition, Muslims have many needs which should concern us as Christians. Respectfully expressing our faith in Jesus Christ can be a natural part of our friendships with Muslims. Muslims revere Jesus, and more Muslims have become His followers in the last 30 years than in the previous 1,250 years.

The message of this course is hopeful and gentle because of our belief in Jesus Christ and our following of His model of ministry towards others.
